KMPX 1967

Norma Dale kindly sent me this picture that she inherited from Dusty Street. I believe it is the first KMPX radio staff picture taken at Enrico’s by I think Jerry Wainwright. I am sitting on the ground in front next to my brother Tommy aka Cosmo, I am 17 years old. I am moody teenager who had to grow up to fast and felt the weight of her world on her shoulders. I spent all my time at KMPX, rarely going to school. It was the most exhilarating and original thing I had ever experienced. The music, the people, the community. For a moment it was the perfect underground radio bubble and I loved every minute of it. It was all Free Form. It was all happening in San Francisco and I was dancing to the music.

I grew up in San Francisco in the 60's. I lived in a world of sex, drugs and rock and roll. After a long stretch working on my tan I have joyfully found my way back to radio. Because you can't fight it; when it's in your blood. I play music on KPTZ.org.
