Norma Dale kindly sent me this picture that she inherited from Dusty Street. I believe it is the first KMPX radio staff picture taken at Enrico’s by I think Jerry Wainwright. I am sitting on the ground in front next to my brother Tommy aka Cosmo, I am 17 years old. I am moody teenager who had to grow up to fast and felt the weight of her world on her shoulders. I spent all my time at KMPX, rarely going to school. It was the most exhilarating and original thing I had ever experienced. The music, the people, the community. For a moment it was the perfect underground radio bubble and I loved every minute of it. It was all Free Form. It was all happening in San Francisco and I was dancing to the music. I posted this on Facebook and one of the ladies in the picture tells me this is from 1968 ,we are there after a meeting to go on strike and this picture was taken by Jim Marshall. Going on strike was a big deal and I imagine that is why no one is smiling.
